Physical Region
The Alps are one of the major physical regions of Italy. They are in the north and run along Italy's boarder from France to Slovenia. The Po Valley is at the base of the Alps. It is a plain that extends to the northeast and is industrially and agriculturally very developed. The Apennines is a mountain chain that runs the length of the peninsula.
There are also many old and historic man-made structures in Italy such as the Colosseum and the leaning tower of Pisa.
